Singapore’s prime minister makes way more considering they’re in office for like 20 years and make well over 2 million, the Swiss Federal Councillor makes a more and has similar benefits. I would say being president is 100% more important than both of those jobs combined.

This also is just considering heads of government and not heads of states that also make an absurd amount. I think pretty reasonable to say you should pay people more for a more important job.

I see what you’re saying but I honestly don’t think it’s a good idea to further separate the president from the experience of the average citizen, because ideally, the president was once just an average citizen. It’s kind of fundamental to democracy that we don’t excessively elevate a leader

The president historically has almost never been an average citizen the only exception might be Truman. We already do though the median salary is $51,370 we give the president almost 10x that in salary alone.

Some presidents grew up poor like Lincoln & Jackson but the president has always made way more than the average citizen. Past presidents have even made more considering inflation.
