Not to sound like I’m anti-change or anything but telling people to just not work for a week seems incredibly out of touch lmao

yeah, and especially with no demands and having a hard time limit all it will do is get you in deep shit with your employer and your landlord. collective action like this needs real planning, concrete demands and mutual aid support

On top of people paying their bills, wtf do they think will happen if people in essential services stop working? Crazy

also OP is like “if you need to work go to work”. a picket line isn’t useful if people can cross it with the excuse of need - it gets people rationalizing themselves out of action a boycott/strike is a pressure campaign. And this pressures neither the strikers nor the corpos

(this isn’t to say that people should never strike btw. im just saying that a strike is a breath holding contest - you better inhale before going underwater or you’ll lose)

No literally, most of us are 1-2 missed pay checks away from homelessness we can’t afford to do that, if they really want to see change they should get involved with their local labor union. But something tells me they’ve never been employed or at least have never had to pay their own bills if they think it’s just that simple lol

yeah, i’m not sure what the OG source of these is (there’s one every couple months), but the people sharing it are almost always very young and don’t seem to really understand how bills work which isn’t their fault ofc. but organization is best done by people who understand the problem. I’d hesitate to sign onto any “movement” that isn’t associated with an established org

Online “socialists” when they find out General Strikes require a massive amount (months, if not years) of organizing and setting up ways to keep people fed in spite of them not working
