Blue States are more expensive because people actually wanna live in them, unlike red states. Nobody wants to move to Mississippi, so their real estate stays cheap. People wanna move to New York and California, so their real estate gets expensive.
Dems campaigning on affordability is simply hilarious when their states are the most unaffordable to live in. They do nothing but expand welfare knowing it entraps people who have to remain dependent on them and thus keep voting them in.

Now to be devil’s advocate here, more ppl are moving out to Florida and Texas. Not bc they’re necessarily great places to live, but in search of lower real estate. That won’t last

So, I’m going to give some push back Red states are less expensive because we have less systemic opportunities and infrastructure out here. You pay for the lessen ability with your live ceiling

Those two also have geographical advantages, and the real estate really isn’t that cheap either unless you live in the middle of nowhere. Austin and Houston ain’t cheap. Dallas ain’t cheap. Miami and Tampa ain’t cheap. But yeah, you can go live in the swamp/plains of each of those for pretty cheap. You’ll just quickly notice you’re not close to anything and now the grocery store is half an hour away.

I grew up in NYC so couldn’t be me. The freedom to walk to a 24 hour store in 2 minutes is something you don’t wanna lose lol

people move there because it’s cheaper comparatively, but both texas and florida are notoriously gerrymandered to high hell and the more people move there the harder it gets to hold onto that gerrymander it might be cope, but unironically i fully expect one or both to vote blue at some point in the next few presidential elections. the gerrymander can only do so much.

I grew up in North Carolina and recently moved to Oregon, and things are definitely more expensive over here, but the wages over here are also better. The state services are better. I’m more inclined to want kids over here because the schools are better. I could go on.

Oregon is the worst-run solid blue state, and they still outperform solid red states, and even purple states with red legislatures, in most critical areas of governance.
