Lived in the south my entire left, went to a state school in the south, never in my life have I ever heard this expression.

Don’t be shy. Explain what it means. Explain the term. Share to the class, please. What does ‘cotton-picking’ mean? What’s the implication of someone who picks cotton and why is it a negative term? Use your reading comprehension and media literacy skills.

I’ve also lived in the south my whole life, grew up hearing this phrase all the time. Took me until my 20s to realize it is in fact racist at least in its origin.
