Mfs read Percy Jackson one time and think that shit is real
Why do Christian’s feel entitled to take away pagan places of worship, like I’m a Hellenic polytheist and so many of the temples in Greece were destroyed and the one that’s standing is now remodeled to be a church

Did you know the Greek gods actually predated Percy Jackson

Clearly neither do pagans bc there’s nothing good abt any of those false gods

In order for there to be movement there has to be an unmoved mover. Thats God. There literally can’t be anything without a God

Who says there has to be a mover?

Aristotle

Essentially the same as air not being able to move without Clouds

Air is what moves clouds lmaoooooo

Air is a mover yes your getting it

You said clouds are what move air my guy, stop contradicting yourself

In order for the wind to move the clouds to create more wind, there had to have been an original gust. Unmoved mover

default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> OP 1d

Okay so you’re not going to believe this but there actually is a faraway insanely powerful force that creates the wind. It’s called the Sun.

It’s so funny how Christians think their best argument is “everything needs to be started by something else except my God because he’s special.”

In b4 “well who do you think created the sun”

Actually I was gonna say the sun is a mover

Do you think it would just make sense that the whole universe just popped up out of nowhere?

upvote 5 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> OP 1d

You think it somehow makes more sense that a God just popped up out of nowhere?

upvote 7 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> OP 1d

I don’t understand the physics behind it but no one is saying the universe just popped out of nowhere

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 1d

So the alternative to that is that there had to have been a creator…

Makes more sense than a sky being making bipedal apes in his image and then picking one ethnic group as his favorite and then changing his mind and sending his son who is also himself to earth to die as a sacrifice to himself so he can forgive the apes and then a spirit which is also himself is bestowed as a gift to the apes

upvote 1 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #1 1d

It makes more sense that an all powerful being created the earth then it just appearing out of nowhere yes

default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> OP 1d

If God is exempt from having to be created by a mover before him, why can’t the universe? Why does this first mover need to be a thinking being at all? Why can’t the universe have always existed in a cycle of collapse and expansion?

Lmaoooooooo

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon

Which ethnic group is his favourite

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #3 1d

Because God is the Unmoved mover that would logically exist

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> OP 1d

I believe the alternative is that something to do with quantum physics and unequal spontaneous creation of matter and antimatter, which I’m not personally well versed in enough to explain it

Why does it have to be a God tho?

Who or what else could it possibly be?

I’m not making a claim that there is necessarily something to begin with, that’s literally what you have been doing

I think there’s a whole Old Testament about it

Or, get this, why can’t we just shut up and respect other people’s religious beliefs

upvote 1 downvote

What logic dictates that?

Which one

Why does it have to have consciousness? Why can’t the universe itself be the unmoved mover? You’re using Ancient Greek philosophy to try to retrofit religious beliefs originating in the Bronze Age to the modern universe, which doesn’t work. I’d argue that at least Hindu concepts of endless universal rebirth is more compatible with modern astronomy, way more than the evangelized descendent of ancient Yahwism which you are advocating for. Still not a Hindu though.

Even if (and that’s a big if) there is a mover, why specifically is that mover the God you so happen to believe in and why are all the other Gods not the movers?

Like the ancient Israelites and Judeans believed in a supreme thunder God who favored their tribe in particular and actively competed with other deities. It’s a pretty simply concept. And now we’re trying to get all vague and cosmological about it.

Old Testament very explicitly refers to the Israelites as his chosen people. God orders genocides of other ethnic groups because they were in the way (ex Jericho)

Yahweh originates as the patron deity of a subset of Canaanite religion. The development, origins, and traditions of early Judaism are very in line with neighboring faith traditions. A leader god is over time placed in a more supreme position, until it is not recognizable as polytheism anymore. This also occurred in Hinduism and Zoroastrianism.
