i feel like american businesses are slowly turning into monopolies
Netflix announces they have acquired Warner Bros. Discovery in a $82.7 BILLION deal. As well as the studio and its film & TV properties, they will also acquire HBO & HBO Max.

I’m just glad it’s not fucking Paramount-Skydance. But yeah, companies know to do their mergers and acquisitions now because this FTC won’t challenge much. Unless it angers the White House, which this merger does. Because Larry Ellison’s son (the Paramount-Skydance CEO) really wants WBD, but WBD keeps turning him down

I wrote a paper about this in an English class and I had to use laws and court hearings to write it and pretty much: they are a monopoly, however legally it’s a loophole because within this day and age there’s so many “small businesses” that they don’t count. And also technically in the laws it has a very strict definition of monopolies, pretty much anything in entertainment cannot be labeled as one
