As a Netflix user, I only use it for the few Netflix originals I watch and anime. Many of my favorite shows Dead Boy Detectives, Lock and Co, The Midnight Club, The Bastard Son of the Devil Himself, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Archive 81, Fate: Winx, Space Force, Inside Job, The Imperfects, and Daybreak. Many of these would have thrived and may have even gotten several seasons if they only marketed and promoted them well and didn’t set unrealistic expectations for first week views
I doubt disney and netflix ever merge. Theyd need court approval to actually merge, and it would take BILLIONS maybe even trillions to get a deal agreed on. Both companies are way too big at this point, but the gov shouldve never let them get this big to begin with. But they probably get a portion of proceeds so i doubt they gaf
Thats what ive been thinking bc theres no way this merger doesnt trigger an investigation of some kind. But it makes sense when you look at history and how mlb literally went before congress and the congressmen ruled that mlb was exempt from any anti trust laws, solely bc the senators liked the mlb and the profit they were bringing in for the individual states. And that set precedent so not only can mlb not be ruled a monopoly ever, other companies are able to do the same thru loopholes. Crazy
From a New York Times article: "The pitch from Netflix was notable in part because it included a pledge to continue theatrical releases for movies from Warner Bros. Discovery. That is a significant development for Netflix, which pioneered at-home viewing and has so far avoided going all in at the box office."
This part is what had me kinda feeling hopeful about this. Netflix has been gobbling up talent and churning through artists for a while, and while it’s profitable that rly ruined their brand recognition in terms of quality. So this might be a way to funnel some of that discovered talent in cheap Netflix specials onto the big screen
And also W.B. Has been around the block passed around like a joint and as much as I don’t like monopoly’s this is the only way to compete in the market right now and I trust Netflix more then I trust Disney with owning multiple streaming services that specialize in mature content. What I hope happens is hbo and Netflix cross pollinates
