My question is why do some people believe systemic racism does not exist? I can only assume racism.
Learned that over half the population either don’t believe systemic racism is real or are unsure if it is real and personally I think it’s a shame. Those that deny it I believe are legit racist and those that are unsure are foolish

My guess is a lot of the structures-redlining as an example-haven’t quite been conveyed as having a lasting impact on people’s decision making process. So there may well be scores of people who have views as racist. But push back because they don’t feel conscious hatred based on skin color.

It’s survivorship bias. White people dont experience systemic racism, therefore they cannot fathom from their perspective being treated like an animal about of your skin color. And when they’re faced with that reality, they often break and choose to be ignorant of that fact because admitting to the existence of system racism means the responsibility of dismantling that system falls on you and comes at the cost of losing white privilege
