it’s frustrating as fuck. every gun-holstered conservative i’ve ever met at a demonstration and actually discussed this with has always started by being vehemently against the idea of gun legislation… but when i suggest what it’d actually look like at length, they end up agreeing that it’s all generally common sense! someone just has to fuckin explain it to them & nobody has ever done that in any position of power.
i don’t want to take away any guns from anyone unless that’s what the law already requires (violent felons, high-risk users, DV offenders, etc.). unfortunately, printing also means that demographic can also print their own weapons. it’s definitely something to be discussed but i see your concern. personally, i’d just want people like you to get extensive education on the way you made your gun to ensure it’s safe for you (won’t misfire/explode due to print error) and how to clean/maintain it.
part of why politicians don’t want printed guns is for safety but definitely most of why is the gun lobby. manufacturers don’t want to lose out on purchases. they’re already making bank on the political violence end of things — new gunowners buying to feel “safer” “just in case” right now. the NRA is a bitch for both sides tbh.
truthfully, i think the “ban all guns” people who genuinely act like they want to delete the 2nd amendment aren’t real. they’re shills paid to be staunchly anti-gun to be the theatrical foil the pro-2nd candidates... do you understand the perspective of printed firearms being a potential loophole for criminals and violent offenders to regain a weapon illegally? /gen
