I’ve lowk always thought this…some of the most hateful, offensive and aggressive people I’ve known have always been the Christians… and I think about how they believe in eternal suffering for anyone unlike them and it makes me think God is deeply immoral
If it’s real and all these awful Christians go to heaven simply for believing and I go to hell and suffer for eternity simply for my unbelief, I think God is immeasurably cruel and more akin to satan

Yeah, if all you need to get to heaven is just believe in the Christian god and Jesus, that’s weird as hell. How could an all loving God say believe in me or go to hell??? And people act like that is somehow justice?

I’ve said that it’s less of a problem of getting me to believe in God and more of a problem of getting me to even like him and want to follow him in the first place (I’ve read the whole Bible)

it always baffles me how some christian’s view god. i’m jewish and we technically believe in the same god (just not jesus) but our most important holiday in the year is literally about asking for forgiveness. and you gotta ask the people in your life that you’ve hurt for forgiveness before even asking god for forgiveness.

We are all sinners and deserve to die for our sin. We believe that Jesus died to absolve us of our sins as long as we come to believe in him and striving to live as he lived. You’re essentially being given new life after death since your sins are absolved by him. However, if you don’t come to believe in Jesus and that he died for your sins, you are separated from him as you have not been absolved of your sins.

the bible regularly contradicts itself. paul’s books tend to say it’s through faith alone while others like james say that faith without works is dead. there’s also jesus’s sorting of the sheep and goats that implies that simply believing isn’t enough and that good faith requires good actions

And youre right, it is weird. I personally think it’s just a way to make them feel better for all the heinous things they’ve done. But believing isn’t just what gets you through heaven. For you can believe and still end up in hell for eternal life!

But either way, faith is required and genuine good actions all your life without faith places you in eternal suffering

i’m just pointing out that the vice versa is also generally true, that faith without deeds will also lead to suffering as it’s false faith

Just saying, if I died for peoples sins I wouldn’t expect them to literally worship me for it especially if it was based on blind faith. I wouldn’t punish them for that. At all. Especially like that.
