If there are laws on electricity, they get electricians and engineers and electrical technicians together, whenever there are water & piping laws, they get plumbers and engineers and technicians & guys from DWP Together, whenever there are nuke laws, they get thermonuclear astrophysicists and engineers, but when it comes to guns, the 1st requirement is that lawmakers & regulators know nothing abt them, the 2nd is that they fear them, the 3rd is that they mustn’t understand the concept of agency.

I really like the idea that these people are just morons who don't understand how to navigate the culture of guns, but in my opinion there's something more sinister at work. Gun laws in the US are for the most part a byproduct of Jim Crow laws, and notably nowadays show up most in states and areas with higher ethnic minority populations
