I think genuinely 99% of people , if they could afford it (which is obviously the issue, cities are expensive) would choose to live in the suburbs of Amsterdam (Zaanse Schans, Haarlem, outer Noord) instead of Missouri Like sure, maybe not IN THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT but just in a quiet neighborhood? Few cars, lots of bikes? Who tf would pick Mississippi

It does, but it doesn’t have anything thays a 15-20 minute train ride to like one of the most culturally diverse cities, and a quick 2-3 hr train ride away from like all of the Netherlands, Belgium, half of Germany, and Paris

This is true. but you forgot to mention that basically all of Mississippi is totally miserable since they have no high paying jobs there since there’s no cities Hence why they always rank near the bottom for life expectancy, education, poverty

Uh… largely yeah. There’s a few exceptions of course, like remote tech jobs, doctors (they’re everywhere),and heavy industry like mining and oil people But cities are where the money is spent and where the culture is

Don’t you know that the only high paying jobs come from cities? There’s no contractors or business owners! Unless you work some sort of office job in NYC or another big city you’re just flat broke!

Have you ever considered that not everyone wants to live in a city for the “culture”? And you dismiss “heavy industry and oil” like it’s a footnote but in states like Mississippi there’s tons of people who do really well because of it?

Correct, there are tons of people who do well because of it, but as the poverty level shows there’s even more who don’t
