The original Rednecks were Appalachian socialists who fought corporations, state, & federal govt for workers rights. The fact that “Redneck” is now a term synonymous with a bootlicking racist will never cease to infuriate me. We forgot ourselves.

Appalachian history major here. I’ve said it countless times and I’ll say it again: Appalachian history was the turning point oligarchical domination of the government and working class. They perfected the practice of subduing the masses in those mining towns, and they enact those same tactics to this day.
