based on the downvotes and comments i see yall are not woke enough but i will stand by this statement 🤷🏼‍♀️ idc idc
are we woke enough to admit that temperatures inside of public buildings are inherently misogynistic? women have a lower cold tolerance than men, and almost every building i have been in runs cooler than what i would find comfortable. it caters to amabs

Yeah but it’s funnier when I use it against you. You wanna be all woke 3 but revert immediately back to fatphobic “you can just lose weight” and being fat is a choice argument when someone challenges your perception of reality

it’s a known biological phenomena that women are more sensitive to cold temperatures

It’s a know biological phenomena that overweight people are sensitive to warm temperatures, which can be men, women, and any other identity. It’s a known biological phenomena some people cannot lose weight with lifestyle changes alone, and thus not a choice they have retained weight. And it’s a known American phenomena that we can’t afford the medical bills for treatment

i never insulted your education. you don't have relevant education to insult... if you did you wouldn't be pulling out grade school health class formulas like they represent the totality of weight loss & retention

My original claim, anyone can lose weight with lifestyle changes. Can you give me a single counter example of someone not losing weight if they eat less calories a day then they burn a day. The answer is no, because its not physically possible

There is no medical data stating eating less calories then what you burn a day would not result in weight loss. You live in a make-believe world

Anonymous replying to -> #3 1w

Have you considered that for some, the amount of less calories a day would kill them before they actually lose weight due to metabolic issues, physical disabilities limiting movement, or any other host of issues? If you’d like a real world and person example, I have blood work and urine analysis that my body is in ketosis. Meaning burning stored energy. I’m in a calorie deficit, I exercise, and am able to manage this despite having a complex disability. Yet, I gained 20 pounds the past year.

Now I know the answer as to why, because I understand data, medical research, and science. But you, oh wise one, who knows all things in the universe, please tell me how this is possible

I am telling you, that in order for you to gain 20 lbs, you were in fact not in a deficit. You have been lied to many times in your life and it’s not your fault. But please hear me when I say it is not physically possible to gain 20 lbs on the year without eating in excess of what your body uses. Again to be clear, impossible

And I’m telling you, that I have concrete proof with blood AND urine tests that I was in a calorie deficit. And still gained weight. So what? Am I a witch because it’s impossible? Yet happening, right before your very eyes?

Or, you’re just stupid and not only lack compassion but refuse medical research that shows weight is a complex bodily system impacted by a large variety of factors. I understand that it has many variables but is purely a function of energy at the end of the day. Can you please go google your situation or discuss with your doctor the “gain 20lbs while in a deficit” claim, you have a misunderstanding.

your original claim was that there is no person who can't lose weight based on lifestyle changes *ALONE* there are some people for whom no amount of lifestyle changes will result in deficit. my aunt is an example. her doctor directly told her to stop focusing on the number cuz it was unlikely to change much if at all thanks to meds, hormones and conditions therefore there are in fact people who can't lose weight with lifestyle changes alone. don't try to shift the goal posts

yeah your aunt could eat less energy then she uses in a day

default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #3 1w

she can't. she would die. not exaggerating. like i said, there are no amount of lifestyle changes that she can make (and survive) that would result in deficit. you can argue with her doctors and physical therapist though i guess...

Anonymous replying to -> #2 1w

If your aunt strictly exists in a surplus she would balloon into the 500+ range and continue until she died, so there are at least some times she does just fine in a deficit

Anonymous replying to -> #3 1w

We are so cooked as a country i cannot believe this

upvote -1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #3 1w

nobody said she exists strictly in a surplus bud. what i said was that no amount of lifestyle changes would result in a deficit that she could survive. her body burns calories at an alarmingly slow pace and holds onto them for dear life. she could sustain a deficit... it would just come with adverse health consequences. they tried a deficit diet + physical therapy + personal trainer and it did nothing because her body doesn't burn calories fast enough. she cannot survive the deficit required

upvote 2 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #3 1w

i'll modify my claim: there are some people for whom no amount of lifestyle changes would result in an (effective, sustained) deficit leading to (healthy) weight loss

upvote 3 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #3 1w

like yeah, you're right, every single person on the planet can starve and lose weight. it just might kill them or leave them permanently hurt/disabled

So there is a few key things wrong here. if your aunt is a functioning member of society and can complete daily tasks and hold a conversation, at the lowest of the low her BMR would be 1000-1500 (i bet you its higher) and that would be if she just laid still all day. Is your Aunt bedridden and mentally incapable of normal life?

Anonymous replying to -> #3 1w

And you understand that say lifting 10 lbs upward 3ft requires energy? I hope you understand that across all humans it would require a minimum amount of calories to do it. So no her body doesn’t burn at an alarmingly slow rate in terms of like exercise thats just not how that works

upvote 0 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 1w

This is a much more sensible claim, though i still disagree, by the way. in which sometimes we have to debate if its healthier to fast or to be overweight.
