Republicans aren’t fooling anyone by pretending they would support the union, not even themselves. We all know who the people flying confederate flags today vote for bruh. What’s the point of lying if we know you’re lying and you know too?
A short history lesson: In 1861, fearing that their wage slaves with no citizenship would be taken away, Democratic state officials and protesters revolted against the Republican federal government and attacked federal troops. Oh wait, that was 2026

And famously, republicans are the ones who fight minimum wage increases and who slobber to give billionaires more tax breaks.

Shit, this modern resurgence of white supremacist nationalists are literally confederates for christ sake; they’re genuinely not fooling anyone except themselves.

(That being said, I don’t absolve the DNC of responsibility. We’ve been building to this for decades and I absolutely hold them responsible for maintaining the direction - they had decades to form a genuine opposition party, instead of hiding under the facade of progressive policy (which wasn’t even progressive))

You shouldn’t absolve the Democrat Party for being the party of slavery

I don’t even think they’re fooling themselves at this point. Like even if you’re deep in the cult I don’t think anyone is truly confused as to who neo-confederates, Nazis, and Klan members are voting for.

The slavery stuff is irrelevant to the democratic party of the modern day. What isn’t irrelevant is the modern history of racist “tough on crime,” neglecting black communities, going along with foreign invasions, and pathetic kowtowing to the republicans. The democratic party should be criticized for the modern shit which actually matters and which can be changed.

I’m not holding your hand through centuries of US History, especially when you obviously ignored anything your teachers said anyway.

He’s talking about Jacksonian democrats, back when there was no such thing as the Republican Party. Dipshit thinks his modern republicans are the same as the fucking whigs.

Like shit, might as well start talking about the liberty party, anti-Masonic party, and free soil party too while we’re at it.

But they literally aren’t? There is zero meaningful continuity there, different ideology, different politicians, different voters. Republicans wave the flag of slavery loving traitors *TODAY*, they argue in defense of government buildings flying it *TODAY*, they have been taking down museum exhibits about slavery *THIS MONTH*. Republicans are the party of slavery they’d like to bring it back.
