Immigrants are not the same as fucking settlers, SETTLERS
“If your country had colonies you can’t complain about third world migration” uhhh actually yes we can? Colonialism taught us that invasion of a land by foreign immigrants is bad for the locals. Why would we wanna repeat that mistake?

A lot of the settlers were immigrants. The US army was made up of a lot of immigrants during its war with the Native Americans. Besides your on stolen land so what’s the difference between immigrants today and the settlers that built the towns and cities

The bad thing about colonialism is people would forcibly come in by invading you. Then make you a second class citizen in your own homeland. Can you name a time a colonial power invaded a country so the colonist could do cheap under the table labor? You have to know how silly this point is.

Bc the settlers destroyed the existing political structures and replaced it. Immigrants join the existing structures. Settlers are not immigrants.

But don’t immigrants uphold oppressive structures.

It depends what you mean by that. If we go down this road I’m guessing I’ll say in some super broad sense they’re similar to settlers in that way but still not the same.

Technically you can say slaves in some sense upheld some oppressive structures but that’s a pretty meaningless thing when you consider the autonomy of slaves in that situation. That still wouldn’t equate the two either.
