Colonialism and immigration are not the same. Immigration is joining a society, colonialism is displacing a society.

Colonists took over the land from the natives, didn’t compensate them (killed them instead), used it to grow stuff like tobacco, sent that to the UK, and collected the profits without giving any tax revenue to the natives. Not the same at all
