Love what OP said but #7s crash out is pure entertainment
I'm so tired of this bs. As a black woman, Taylor Swift is NOT racist in her new album. If you would actually look into the rest of the song, you would understand that.

They had a valid point with the Jackson 5 but it got drowned out with everything else they said 😭

I mean yes, but also no. Artists certainly deserve credit, no question there. But the Jackson 5 estate hasn’t actually said anything & there’s other songs that song like white artists so doesn’t seem like lack of credit is based on race. *IF* there’s truly credit issues. I don’t think the interpolations thing has been proven but if it’s true, literally everyone is arguing over nothing.

I don’t think anyone is disagreeing about artists getting credit. I think OP & 3 tried to have a real convo about it & 7 didn’t want to hear it

Swifties running to genius and putting interpolation credits when they don’t exist is making the situation worse. This whole thing ,ould’ve blown over as “hey this song sounds like x” (which happens a lot in music)

Also there’s rumors (nothing confirmed yet) of the Jackson family getting ready to sue. They obviously won’t say anything before a suit is filed

Yea, I meant if the interpolations were legit the argument was moot. I thought she did say something about taking inspo from the Jackson 5 though? I could’ve misunderstood that. Tbh I think a lot of this album songs very similar to other artists work, so either something was agreed to or there’s about to be a big lawsuit. I just don’t think it’s specific to the Jackson 5.

Yea I agree there. I just found it funny/ odd that 7 was citing those rumors as fact, while insulting the intelligence of anyone who said there wasn’t proof.

I’m not sure if she did but they’re not credited anywhere. I don’t think she should give credit for inspiration but it does make her look hypocritical if she said inspired by the the Jackson 5 and not give credit when she got credit for being the inspiration for deja vu

Yea, same. My only thing is there’s other songs that sound like Jonas Brothers and Weezer, and they didn’t get credits either. I think it’s super sus that she didn’t give credits, I just don’t think it’s driven by race. I think she knew she couldn’t deny Father Figure bc it has the same title. Idk what the exact rules are for how similar songs are allowed to be without credits but I think we’re about to find out lol
