Autism is a spectrum yes but it’s not something we all inherently have. I’m autistic but my autism isn’t the exact same as whoever else. Some of these people are saying they’re autistic to see quirky and cute, fetishizing a disability. We aren’t all autistic but we all have preferences, strengths and weaknesses, and abilities. A man that can choose what he wants to eat that day but someone with autism doesn’t have that ability.

of course rates of autism have climbed since we learned of its existence, because we learned of its existence! it’s less stigmatized and there’s more access to resources/care

The spectrum isn’t “no autism to high autism.” It’s different autistic traits with their own varying degrees. Saying everyone is a little autistic is factually incorrect. You’re either autistic or you aren’t.
