Narcissists- both with or without NPD- are not inherently bad people nor abusive. It annoys me how narcissism in particular is portrayed as Uniquely Evil and deserving of its own special term “narcissistic abuse” when abuse is abuse?

No literally. I hate when people are like “oh well these people are wired to be abusers” because. No?? They come with symptoms that under certain circumstances could have a higher risk of resulting in abuse but they aren’t The Abuse Illness. There’s plenty of people out there who have an “abuse illness” who, whaddyaknow, aren’t abusive. People are people.

part of what I find so eerie & baffling about the ongoing moral panic against “narcissists” is that I even see other people with diagnosed “personality disorders” buying into that type of rhetoric, and it’s like… now back up… so you recognize that people are just being misinformed bigots when they apply this type of generalization to You, yet somehow you accept stigma as objective facts once a different PD is in the crosshairs???
