Appeal. Cite extenuating circumstances associated with your mental disabilities. They should put you on probation which will let you stay in school. Reach out to your school’s disability office for help. You have the right under the ADA to receive reasonable accommodations. Probation will be a reasonable accommodation
Don’t resign yourself to walking away unless it truly benefits you and is what you want. Keep in mind, you haven’t actually tried yet. You may be trusting the predicative part of your brain to anticipate the outcome, but you’ve never seen these procedures play out. If you heard that from someone you went to for advocacy, find another advocate. Bonus points if it’s a professor with tenure (usually the rank of “associate professor” or higher, but unis vary).

I went in person with my dad to the registrar’s office and got a meeting with a board member who approves these appeals. We explained my situation (undiagnosed depression, lack of discipline etc without doctors notes or anything) basically the main point was to get her to like us. She said she would try to help us out, submitted an appeal, and the university removed both semesters from my…
Transcript AND cleared all debts I had with the university. I’m a white male, my dad makes enough money that I don’t get anything from fafsa. Basically the cards were stacked against me. All it took was showing I was a decent person and that I was willing to try and they helped me out. If I hadn’t gone in person to meet with her, I don’t think it would’ve worked. Goodluck! Dm me if u have more questions
I only say the cards are stacked against me bc colleges are the least likely to “help” white males. My parents have money but they haven’t paid for anything since highschool. It makes applying for financial aid difficult lol. I’m just glad they the university helped me. If they helped me, they should be able to work something out with anyone.
