the 99 hour ugandan movie? probably not. it’s incredibly difficult for movies to get produced in third world countries. that’s why the indie movies from the guy who did who killed captain alex are the only relatively known movies from uganda.

i think people who are interested in film should be more open to watching movies from other countries. it’s fine to stay in your comfort zone for the most part, but you need to branch out every once in a while. it’s healthy and can give you a deeper understanding of the medium

i mean yeah, the average person is not watching movies for a profound cinematic experience or anything, and that’s fine. if you’re on a yikyak server made specifically for movie discussion though, i would expect an open mind. also, how does movie watching get expensive? at the theater, sure, but you there’s so much foreign/arthouse cinema freely on youtube or the internet archive at no cost. i’m not saying everyone should see everything in theaters and get every arthouse streaming service, but i
