I can’t help but get the feeling that heated rivalries was written by and specifically for straight white women. I mean don’t get me wrong, who doesn’t love objectively attractive, wealthy white male leads doing it on screen, but it’s something about it.

For me it’s not even the sex, it’s the fact that all of the gay characters are presented as “ideal gays” straight presenting, non flamboyant, conventionally attractive, Caucasian, 50 shades of beige gays. Now there’s nothing wrong with being a masculine presenting gay man, but I think they do this to cast a wider net when it comes to their audience by having presentable cookie cutter characters.

All the gay characters except the smoothie bar guys thick slightly flamboyant black gay friend, who is the opposite of everything I just said and essentially acts as a side character and/or sidekick
