Im talking about the comments and im pretty sure this post is too, but im pretty sure ik the podcast the og post was talking about tho, and they pretty regularly have tone deaf takes on lesbians (I mean the two main hosts are bisexual so you’d hope they’d have lesbian friends but ig not) one clip I’ve seen they discuss what defines lesbianism and how fluidity comes into that without a lesbian in the room, they acknowledge that some lesbian are mad at that rhetoric that we can change but dont go
Men do force themselves on lesbians though, have you heard of ‘corrective’ rape? Its a named ‘fetish’ you can easily find looking for regular lesbian nsfw content, Its not weird for this to hit a nerve with some of us when some of us have been targeted by that kind of sexual violence, it gets watered down into the mainstream too, like drake’s “you say that you’re a lesbian girl me to” which sounds like one of the dudes in the comments is mocking, that and druski’s recent stud obsession..
Though these are usually conversations ive had with other lesbians and other queer women that have experienced this fetishizing to some level, but I’ve absolutely seen conversations about this started by other lesbians, its the driving force of a lot of the hate crimes we experience unfortunately
Oh i think i found the clip the post is talking about, its a little worse than i expected, they start by talking about if you can choose to be lesbian while “fucking a guy a year” or wtvr, the host brings up a male friend they have that slept with a lesbian couple and made a comment about them going “dick crazy” so yeah i stand by what I said they’re absolutely playing into this, they called lesbians that don’t resonate with that “purists” bro
omfg. merriam webster defines a lesbian as “of, relating to, or characterized by sexual or romantic attraction to other women or between women.” that is the commonly accepted definition. nb people can absolutely be lesbians- and i never said that wasn’t the case. i was just stating the commonly accepted definition because there are idiots in these comments that think men are included in that definition. if you’re looking for a reason to be mad, you’ll always find it 🤷♂️
So if the Merriam Webster definition leaves out nonbinary lesbians (a huge category) it makes sense to me that it would leave out other nuances as well. For example trans men who have identified as lesbians their entire life before transitioning. Historically they were still lesbians, they identified as lesbians, they were loved by lesbians. It would be ridiculous to tell a lesbian who has been with them that they aren’t a lesbian. Butchness has always been tied to transness.
