personally i think transmascs can be lesbians and trans men categorically cannot, but the difference is i dont actually care. i wont tell someone they are wrong for identifying that way, and it doesnt affect me in the slightest. i wouldnt even be thinking about it if annoyinf mfs on yikyak werent constantly complaining about he/him lesbians like it personally affects them

It’s not a bad faith argument. Lesbian is not contingent on current gender identity as made clear by trans men. It’s not wrong to assume cis men can label themselves lesbians as well

uh yeah their gender identity? but that doesn’t affect their sexual orientation so if they’re attracted to women/female ppl, in this situation, they can still have that label if they feel like it described their experience. a lot of identifying with labels is about identifying with the experience of embodying those labels, and trans men who like women often have the “lesbian experience” of identifying as a woman and being female while being attracted to people with the same sex and identity

Having had the lesbian experience does not make you a lesbian. Does a bisexual woman who previously had lesbian experiences now make a lesbian even whilst she dates a man? Obviously I don’t care what they call themselves but that logic being anyone’s justification isn’t that good

you misunderstand. i never said trans men can't be lesbians. i said there is a distinction, because there is. we don't need to pretend like cis and trans men are exactly the same. it's patronizing and, in fact, recognizing that they're distinct is the nuanced perspective that allows one to see the validity of a term like "trans man lesbian"
