Hot take but saying men can’t be lesbians but trans men can be is inherently transphobic

"men can't, but trans men can" yes, that is transphobic no matter what the context is. I'm just not into policing identities, and if someone's connection to "lesbian" didn't fade when their connection to "man" came into focus it doesn't negatively impact my life at all.

as a trans guy i honestly don’t see anything wrong with that statement. it’s saying that we can be lesbians not that we automatically are lesbians if we’re attracted to women. like it’s up to the person if they wanna ID as such.

Hot take but that take is an inside thought and people can be whoever tf they want. It’s the people who tell people who they can be that’s the problem

then would it still be transphobic to say this cis men can’t be lesbians but trans men can? or is it something other than the distinction between trans men and other men?

The distinction is that trans men who ID as lesbians often did so before transition as well, and still identify with the label.
