lowkenuinely regardless of sexuality can y'all stop trauma dumping about your exes on the first date 🫩 toxic people will use it as a blueprint on how to abuse you and empaths such as myself get the ick from knowing how low your self-esteem is…
“it’s hard for bi women to date women bc lesbians hate us!!” skill issue?? lesbians love me bc i don’t talk about my evil ex bfs on the first date and even if every lesbian in the world was biphobic (most of them aren’t) we still outnumber them 10:1 💀💀

if you automatically interpret venting as a sign of low self-esteem then you’re def not as much of an “empath” as you think 💀

bro if you vent about exes on a first date, that sure as hell isn’t a sign of high self esteem…

talking about other people being shitty to you doesn’t actually indicate anything about your self-esteem in any direction. it just indicates that people have been shitty to you

sure, but a first date is obviously not the place to do that. If your shitty ex is a more important topic than yourself, that’s not a good sign.

obviously someone venting about their shitty ex on a date would be doing so as Part Of talking about themself and their own experiences. that doesn’t communicate anything about their self-esteem

Sometimes it’s necessary tho. My fiancé and I both had to talk about our exes on the first date (she’s a lesbian and I’m pan) bc I asked her a question and she had to explain part of her trauma and she asked me a question so I had to explain part of my trauma. It really depends on the context. I agree that talking about your ex can be an ick but sometimes it’s important for a relationship to work

I wonder if OP is able to elaborate at all what they mean by ‘empath’? I’ve heard it can mean different things to different people. 😭 The last time I heard someone use that term, outside of hearing my sister watch Shane Dawson way back when, was at the CVS. Some guy behind me had this poor older lady cornered, chatting her ear off. All I heard was “you I really RELATE to women…you see, I’m an empath. I feel empathy when I heard the word female”. Wildest sentence I’d ever heard.💀

“I’m an empath, I feel empathy when I hear the word female” is legit one of the funniest sentences I’ve read in days 💀

Omigosh I was crying laughing explaining it to my partner. Thankfully, that poor lady’s pharmacist called her up pretty quickly after so she could make her escape. …It’s like she was being held conversationally hostage by Jughead from Riverdale. 😭

oh definitely, but there’s a big difference between mutual bonding over traumatic experiences and just venting about exes. OP is talking about when it’s not invited
