I actually agree with this. I feel like a man. i am a man. i’m not identifying as one. that makes it sound like it’s a phase or religion or something
I actually hate the term gender identity. I don’t identify as a woman I am a woman.

Identity includes things like race, sexuality, ethnicity, etc

agreed, but I’d like to add that there’s a little bit of difference between just the idea of “identity” and the phrase “I identify as”. the latter sounds like a choice because it can be taken as “I identify myself to others in this way”. “I am” is generally a stronger statement of identity.
