people in the comments missing the point that the phrasing is often used to undermine trans women specifically and most people don't use that terminology when talking about cis women. something can be technically right and still a microaggression.

That’s your interpretation of it. Identity includes race, gender, sexuality, and all the other factors of us. The word identity doesn’t imply it’s not true or that it’s a choice

another similar thing: saying my pronouns are my "preferred pronouns" or my name "my preferred name." my pronouns are just my pronouns, the only correct ones; same with my name.
