Can I be in one non Jewish group that doesn’t hate on us every 5 seconds. Just one
How about neither because they’re both written by Zionists?

They are “zionists” because they are Jewish and apparently haven’t commented on Israel. I guess we should boycott all Muslim authors who haven’t commented on ISIS

book club member here: we don’t hate jews!!!! zionism is a separate thing!!! leave your zionism at the door and you’ll be OK, we just want arabs and palestinians in the group to feel safe and welcome too

i don’t see many Muslims defending isis ngl. i do see zionists vehemently defending the state of “israel” in spite of overwhelming condemnation from the entire planet

Alright, y’all are gonna have to clue me into what I said wrong here cause I have no idea why an “everyone is welcome, leave controversal political ideology at the door to prevent conflict” statement is getting DOWNVOTED

Can’t speak for everyone but this is very clearly about Jews because only Jews are asked to speak up on this issue. Jews have no obligation to provide their opinion on Israel anymore than a Muslim person needs to comment on Hamas

This author didn’t post something supporting Israel and Netanyahu and yet here is a post asking to boycott her. That would not happen if she weren’t Jewish

Also non Jews use Zionism to mean support of the Israeli government which is not what it means to most Jews but we’ll leave that aside for now

First of all, this author didn’t defend the state of Israel. In any way. She just existed as a Jewish person. Second, most Jews support the existence of Israel but not what Israel has been doing. Supporting the two state solution is not the same as supporting ISIS

All Rebecca Yarus did was announce her book was translated in Hebrew and people now boycott her. It’s not antizionism. It’s antisemitism and it’s celebrated.

I’m glad you took the time to hear us out. I would never want Arab or Palestinian people to feel excluded or hated. But that doesn’t mean that Jewish members need to be silenced and excluded

No cause this is actually super good for me to know? I’ll double check “they’re a zionist” claims more closely in the future. I’m not the kind of person who leads with an ethnicity-first mindset when it comes to interpreting the world so I think a lot of That aspect of antisemitism has slipped under my radar

hey! reminder, government =/= people. we offer america that grace, as well as many other countries. israel should receive it as well.

it happens more often than you think, but learning from it and trying to do better in the future is the most important part.

it has the potential not to be, but more often than not, it is thinly veiled antisemitism and is rooted in taking away the self determination of jews whether you believe it or not.

whereas many zionists would LOVE to see palestinians having self determination too.

It’s not, but declaring people to be Zionists based off nothing more than them being Jewish and having relatives in Israel absolutely is antisemitism

we shouldn’t offer America that grace. offering regimes like the US, israel, or germany grace is what marches us towards global conflict. colonial nations should be dissolved because their existence deprives indigenous nations of their right to self-determination. the colonial nations exist over occupied ones

I think it’s getting downvoted in part because the post in question very much is not about Zionism at all and is trying to start witch hunts of Jewish authors we don’t know the politics of for having an Israeli family member

Another thing to keep in mind, speaking as a Jewish person who would broadly consider myself antizionist, is that there is a long history of Jews being blanket assumed to be Zionists and persecuted collectively for it (which ironically gave a big boost to Zionism) So sometimes even Jews who don’t really agree with Zionism are suspicious of antizionists because of trauma from seeing that sort of thing happen (often to an undue extent, in my view, but my point is it’s not baseless)
