How about neither because they’re both written by Zionists?
Should I read ACOTAR or Fourth Wing first?

It’s amazing how people can just make stuff up about authors and people believe them

Well I don’t really care as long as I get a good book out of it. I read for enjoyment not to judge the author

You are literally talking about two women who shameless support a military that brutalize women and post their lingerie on Instagram or TikTok.

Honey they got free will, they can ignore op if they want. And op can spread information about the authors dearth of morals if they choose. Do you think boycotts work in silence? Do you not understand that protest is organized?

Sure, unlikely, but sure. The more people that check the books out, the more the library will stock. That is still more money in their pockets

I agree. That we can spread awareness about certain issues. But also I just feel like we’re talking about fantasy books. Sometimes it gets tiring ALWAYS bringing in politics in everything. I for one would like a space where we just talk about books (as the page suggests) not politics

Also are they Zionists or just Jewish because I haven’t found anything they’ve actually stated making them Zionist? Forgive me if I’m wrong I’m just trying to get clarity

I am also wondering because not all Jewish people are Zionists.

I would love to hear people’s evidence for these claims too, bc the only thing I’ve ever found about Maas being a Zionist is that she’s Jewish and went on a birthright trip. Which does not automatically make someone a Zionist lmao

Same, only thing I found for Yarros was that she condemned all wars and then didn’t say anything else on the matter. I’m not trying to defend them, I just would like to see the proof

This isn’t about her being Jewish. If you go on a birthright trip, have relatives in the IDF, have zero criticisms of Pissrael. Then yeah, SJ is a Zionist.

Ok, if she has relatives from Israel then they will all have been in the IDF, it’s required of all citizens to do ~2 years, going on a birthright trip is something a lot of Jewish people do, and she did hers a decade ago, as for the zero criticisms, I’ll give you that being silent isn’t a good look, but it doesn’t make them a Zionist, there’s many reasons she might not make a statement including being told not to by PR, not saying that’s the reason just that isn’t good evidence to label her

dude this a weak argument. plenty of people have family members in the IDF or that have been in the IDF because of mandatory conscription. that doesn’t immediately make a person who is outside of israel a zionist. birthright isn’t funded by the israeli government, and if someone went 10+ years ago why are we holding it against them? also, some people remain silent for a reason. it doesn’t mean agreeing with the israeli government. it could be because their publisher threatened to drop them.

Most people who go on a “birthright” trip just do so because they want a free vacation, and most people don’t post their political views on social media especially if they have family members it’ll get them into a fight with (which I assume would be the case for someone with relatives in the IDF) Generally people who are going to be donating to Zionist causes aren’t exactly shy about their beliefs, if she was a Zionist she’d probably have openly said things that clearly indicate such…

That post was more characterized as performative justice and actually weakens your argument of her as a Zionist considering she criticizes the current administration, yes it was insensitive and she was called out for it and took the post down, still doesn’t show she’s a Zionist and I’m curious about these posts you keep referencing, are they in the room with us now?

SJM literally talked about how Israel is a magical place when she went there and how she felt touched. She has offered zero criticism of it. To be honest I talked about how she spoke of Breonna Taylor to let you know SJAss is a fucking asshole. Other than being a Zionist, she hates Black people and Irish people.

Yeah maybe read the post again, and those comments are about her birthright trip, which again was a DECADE ago. I’ll grant you the silence criticism but it’s not an indication of Zionism since as we have all pointed out, there’s many reasons a public figure stays silent over heated topics. I don’t even like SJMs books but your arguments far out of left field that you need a serious reality check.

Says the person who thinks Palestinian lives and suffering are a joke. If the post is still up, then yeah. A sign she is a Zionist. Has she donated to Palestinians? No. Israel has committed horrifying atrocities and she has not said one word about it.

You’re not getting the point. Let’s say I became a billionaire author like SJAss. Let’s say my family played a part in a military force that brutalized your family and took away your land and your home. Would you like it if people were supporting me? Would you like it if I talked about how I talked about how “magical” the place is despite it originally being your home being occupied and your loved ones being brutalized?

Once again. Birthright trips are themselves Zionist propaganda. They are meant to romanticize the land and downplay the horror Palestinians are going through.

Do not ever put words in my mouth! I have never stated that, I have given you plenty of grace in all of these exchanges but that crosses a line. Like I said, I don’t like her books and Idk if she truly is one or not BUT you have not given a shred of credible evidence in your diatribes that concretely proves either of these authors is a Zionist. You keep spouting talking points that keep being repeated in echo chambers of hate. What’s happening is an awful tragedy so maybe focus your hate on them

Consuming Zionist propaganda doesn’t make you automatically a Zionist, it’s not like she’s funding birthright trips she took a paid for vacation most people who take those trips don’t know the purpose of them, that’s the whole point You’ve consumed Zionist propaganda too, does that make you a Zionist? No, of course it doesn’t

I’d be fine if people were supporting you because you had no part in what happened. If you were cheering on that military on social media, that’d be a different story, but she isn’t doing so. Do you want to be judged for your worst family member? Palestinians aren’t calling for this kind of boycott either, and shaming people for not doing so is a distraction from BDS
