That was mostly a guess cause I did a project last semester looking at research on anthropogenic effects (namely rising sea temperatures) on jellyfish and found that there’s a positive correlation between warmer oceans and jellyfish populations and since they are a main prey item for sea turtles it’s causing an increase in their populations too HOWEVER it’s also changing their spatial distribution patterns and idk what impact that will have on
So there’s a few factors: 1) Without ppl hunting their eggs/meat to the extent that it was done it allows populations to increase 2) Habitat protection / restoration (stopping ppl from building on coasts that were their homes) 3) TEDs (turtle excluder device) being used more so turtles are less likely to die from bycatch I’m not discrediting the jellyfish thing mostly because it’s never one single thing that affects it but I know other things that are definitely helping
