yeah, even if they banned greek life it wouldn’t stop them from going underground. my school perma banned one and they are still around just under a diff name and don’t participate in the university’s events. they still haze, have parties and have events for charities.

And they’re just going to go underground anyway even if they weren’t

Same my school took away recognition for two frats and one of them even lost their national orgs recognition and they're just houses of guys who have parties with no one to hold them accountable it's so much more dangerous

yep, their nationals also closed their chapter here bc of the horrible things they did. now they still do everything just off campus. and you can’t report them to the uni at all bc it’s not under them. also they have guys who aren’t in uni anymore so there’s nothing the school can do to them when they do things. police can’t stop the hazing either bc they are too good at keeping it hidden. so all proof is just words which doesnt go to far if no one else talks

One of ours the one that's derecognized by both the university and their nationals had an incident a few years ago where an entire party of people got roofied like literally everyone there and nothing happened. It literally doesn't make anything safer to try and ban all frats as a blanket statement. Not to mention it polarizes the student body and makes people in Greek life feel alienated which doesn't work towards a common goal of making campus safer

honestly it reminds me of prohibition where alc was banned and yet shine was still made just alc unsafe.

It's simply not a realistic option to ban it. Too many people are heavily invested in it. Also not that this excuses anything but they do literally raise millions for charities and support local communities a ton. Which again doesn't excuse any harm whatsoever but it's just not as black and white as people think

it’s a slap on the wrist to make them look better after it came out that they did nothing about the rapists
