For all the people who are offended by trans women being called women, how does it feel to be so insecure about your own identity? Just because you were privileged to be born in the body you were meant to doesn’t mean everyone has that same luxury. Some people have to work harder to feel comfortable in their own skin. Fuck yourself if you feel otherwise.

The whole “male socialisation” is such a bullshit copout, #5. Imagine being denied your womanhood your entire life and constantly being ostracised because you don’t fit in with anyone around you just for some asshole to say you’re not valid because you didn’t grow up the same way she did. News flash: no two people have the exact same upbringing. Girlhood and womanhood is different for every single one of us. Why is empathy and basic decency so damn difficult for you transphobes?

It’s my personal belief that trans women aren’t women because of their chromosomes and the lack of being born with a uterus. But what I believe doesn’t actually change anything. I’ll respect you as whatever you say you are if you’re a nice person. The same applies for my identity. I don’t outright identify as bisexual because I don’t care about labels, but I like men and women. That said, you don’t need to respect who I’m attracted to. It just doesn’t matter to me. I’m not going to waste time-

I see more misogyny and more vitriol against women from women transphobes than I do from even a lot of shitty men. Womanhood is not a damn monolith. We are all different and unique and our paths through and to womanhood are as unique as we are. All you do in dismissing other women is hurt ALL of us.

It is, it’s called gender dysphoria. The only reliable treatment is transitioning. Almost none of actually us want this, it’s just better than the untreated alternative.

upvote 11 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #14 12w

For centuries therapy has been attempted as a treatment, like with body dysmorphia, and it proves to not work for the vast majority of patients, it just makes it worse. Unlike many other conditions, gender dysphoria is most likely caused by hormonal imbalance at the wrong moment in the womb leading to abnormal brain development. Therefore the condition doesn’t fully go away, the symptoms can only ever be eased.

Anonymous replying to -> #14 12w

But what about all the complications that come from transitioning? I’ve heard many stories about issues involving the throat due to changes that are not supported by the body, not to mention complications involving bottom surgery? Why is that the best option when it can cause much damage to one’s health and cause long term consequences

upvote 2 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #17 12w

I’ve never heard of medical complications involving bottom surgery, it has one of the smallest regret rates. there’s multiple types though, maybe you’ve seen one about a more niche procedure? and I’ve never heard of complications with the throat outside of surgery on the vocal cords, which generally isnt recommended within the community

upvote 6 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #17 12w

There is absolutely not a single form of healthcare that comes without regret or complication at some point or another. Transition related healthcare has one of, if not the lowest, the least amount of regrets. Less than heart surgery, less than tattoos, less than marriage even. Transition care has improved significantly in the last few decades and revisions are often an option, and techniques have developed really well.

upvote 9 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 12w

Just because there are some who regret or have issue doesn’t mean the care is ineffective or should be banned. Otherwise, every medical intervention should be banned. There are those who regret even the most life-saving, emergency surgeries. Heart, lung, brain, kidney, etc.

upvote 9 downvote

The only complication is loss of fertility and common issues that can come with any surgery. Not sure what you’re talking about with the throat.

Female to male hormone therapy causes the larynx to enlarge causing strain on the vocal cords, which is problematic to many, especially singers and can be more of an issue for some than others

Hm, I guess I don’t. Despite recent debate in past years, I’m not really under the impression that you can escape what you’re born with. I get that gender is how people express themselves, but sex is what defines you biologically, no?

Anonymous replying to -> #19 12w

Here’s an anecdote: I’m intersex. I’m infertile, don’t get periods, and have much more natural testosterone than the average cis woman (likely on the lower end of normal t levels for cis men). At its core, it doesn’t bother me, but what does bother me is the idea that I’m less of a woman because I wasn’t born with the same biological traits you’re talking about.

It also reduces womanhood to our ability to procreate, which feels like a slippery slope to me.

Yeah, I guess I can get where you’re coming from. So biology aside, is your womanhood based on like, your appearance?
