Arcane is in a Fantasy world without America or Britain, so why is this person getting pressed? Because in their perspective, would the use of American phrases also piss them off? Do they want only exclusively in-world sayings? I feel like that’s being way too picky. Yeah, it’s nice when an author does that, but people write for FUN and for FREE as a HOBBY. Seeing that post actually makes me kinda mad, especially with how many people upvoted

I get both perspectives because it’s (to me, an American, to whom britishisms are glaringly obvious) a very simple switch to make that would make immersion a lot better. However, I do think calling out little pieces like this is kinda rude. Like, imagine the author saw that?? And they’re getting criticized somewhere online with no power to defend themselves

I mean, this is an anonymous app and they didn’t name any authors. I think it’s okay for people to complain about fics as long as they don’t call anyone out specifically. There has to be at least some space where people can state their opinions on fanfics, especially bc it’s rude to say anything directly on ao3. You’re free to disagree with them but they’re still entitled to state their opinion as well.
