ig im pro censorship then because if you read shit that’s sexualizing children/pedophilia then you’re sick idc that it’s fiction
Hey uh. Thought crimes aren’t crimes. It’s not illegal to read or write stories about illegal content. There is no victim. If you believe this should be a crime, you are pro censorship.

Is it disgusting, totally. Should it be a crime? No. 1 because you can’t have a victimless crime, and 2 because that absolutely leads to more censorship.

You are only pro censorship of you believe those works should be removed/banned

Fics that explore the negative impact of crimes are fine though, right? I’m worried I’m a bad person for enjoying fics that try to explain the thought process behind crimes. It’s a grime reminder that unfortunately these disgusting acts are carried out not by unrelated monsters but by human beings. Idk I’ve always hated when people try to distance themselves from criminals, as if they themselves couldn’t also do something horrible.

If I know someone who does it I’m going to smack them in the head with a mallet and watch them very carefully. It’s not a crime tho and I don’t think it should be, because I don’t trust whoever would enforce it. You’ve seen fandom bro. You know they get dog piled for the slightest thing. I’m not gonna be the reason it happens even more.

I’m going to be SO real with you, there was a lot of stuff I read as a kid people kept saying was pedophilia because it was sexual and involving characters that were minors, but the people creating and consuming the content were mostly minors themselves 💀

as long as it isn’t explicitly written i don’t think it’s bad if that makes sense? like u enjoy fiction that explores the aftermath and affects of awful things but i do NOT want to read abt it happening

Exactly! I’ve always liked stories that explain the after. Because things don’t just go back to how they were before this awful thing happened. It’s arrogant to pretend it does.

Also a lot of content is people coping. I wrote stories as a kid about a student getting with a teacher or someone older and I read a lot of that too. It was how I was coping with the sexual abuse I experienced as a kid from my teacher. It helped me work through the logic of it and distinguish what I was wishing it would have been like to what actually happened

You want to remove those things because you are worried people genuinely desiring to abuse someone is reading and writing it, but censoring it would take away a huge chunk of coping for the actual victims of those crimes (not saying everyone copes like that but I did and it was super helpful)
