People understand that part really well, but I also mean that, regardless of my beliefs on it, reading about csa, or rape, or abuse, or other horrible topics isn’t illegal. Sure, do I think it’s disgusting for someone to read sexual content about children? Yeah. Is it illegal? Nope. Should it be? Also no. Censorship of media (in particular media which has no victims) in any form is bad even when it is for good reasons.

cp is illegal cause there are real life children being harmed in the making of cp which isn’t the case for fiction. i’m not saying ppl should start jacking off to ch 22 of IT but if you’re engaging with taboo content critically and addressing it thoughtfully that’s completely different than consuming cp.

the reality is that child abuse happens and sometimes it does more harm than good to censor media that portrays it accurately and thoughtfully, especially if it’s written by victims of ca and sa trying to work through their experiences through writing fiction.

I’m gonna level with you here. Reading about something doesn’t promote it, and this is the same logic people who want to ban content about homosexuality or sex in general use. I think banning this content is bad because 1, whose morals are we basing this off of, are we banning anything about illegal content? 2, this creates the precedent that thought crime is real crime, and that is VERY bad. And 3, unfortunately pedophiles are going to exist either way, and they won’t stop existing-

- because there isn’t legal content for them anymore, they’re just going to start consuming illegal content, which has actual victims. I know your heart is in the right place, but having something with no victims be a crime isn’t good and will lead to more censorship.
