I can’t relate to any of the “dreading spending the holidays with my family” stuff. There’s not a single person in my (very large) extended family that I don’t get along with. We don’t talk politics much but when we do, we all agree on the big things…

i mean as an adult if you dread seeing your family you can always just not see them? like you’re a grown ass adult and you can make the decision for yourself. if you can’t because you’re dependent on your family then suck it up

sure, but when you see people suffering, it’s not very compassionate to comment on that suffering by announcing “can’t relate” they may not have meant it in a hostile way but it still comes across as basically “damn, your family’s abusive huh? couldn’t be me!”

😭people with the type of privilege of having this type of family made me realize what I’m going thru with mine it’s normal and shouldn’t be tolerated.
