Romance is a nuanced and beautiful genre that touches on the most misunderstood aspect of humanity, love. The “spicy” smut books are dogshit slop intended for BookTok troglodytes. There’s a difference. Be pretentious, romance is losing its meaning.
Maybe this is pretentious of me, but ppl that don’t read outside of romance pmo

Romance and smut are not considered the same! Can you have them in the same book? Yes. But they are separate genres like sci-fi and horror. You can have them separate or together. You’re ignorant to think all smut is bad smut. Every genre has some golden gems. And tbh, if it gets people reading, I don’t care! Reading is great for the brain regardless of the genre!

Oh no nuance here I guess. I hope people block folks like you. You’re only here to judge others in sweeping blows.

I hope it’s fun for you, having half your comment deleted in every thread because you can’t control your temper about something that shouldn’t concern you.

Super agree with the sentiment but genre wise, romance and *erotica are different, but smut is just one element, like action or worldbuilding, that can be in either. Smut itself is not a genre. Otherwise totally agree. Reading is reading and being elitist about what others read is ridiculous when most adults read less than a single book a year.
