Fr. I only read fantasy (+ some sci fi) because as someone who grew up hating to read, it’s the only thing that’s made me want to as an adult. And besides theres literally hundreds of books on my tbr, when theres that many I want to get to, theres not time for anything else anyway

Oh i definitely didn’t say that. I’m just saying variety is good. Finding something you like in another genre is super easy and fun. Ex. Romance > romantasy, romantic lit fic, Ya romance, etc. the prior person may have said something about it being intellectual but i definitely just think it’s good to sprinkle in variety. It’s healthy :)

I disagreed a bit with your original point since I thought you meant entire genres, but if it's just branching into subgenres then yeah I get the idea. I'm a fantasy-only reader (mainly high & hard) but love spreading out & enjoying post-apocalyptic fantasy, low fantasy, dark fantasy, slice-of-life fantasy, litRPGs, cultivator fantasy, historical fantasy, sci-fi fantasy fusion. there's an insane amount of diversity within genres & I haven't even covered all of them lol
