It’s actually worse. They’re could JUST scan the books to train AI. They’re destroying the books afterwards (completely unnecessary) because they want us using AI and platforms that use AI more.

Yep. And they’re taking so many vendors out of business. Vendors that we rely on to acquire rare texts. Vendors that employ people. A whole industry might just disappear in a few more years of this. It’s like deforestation, but of used books.
