This is OP! For those who liked or loved Fourth Wing: I'm genuinely curious and would love to know what you like or love about Fourth Wing if you're willing to share! What drew you in? What kept you? What resonated? Or tugged at heart strings? Anything!
I did not like Fourth Wing. Here's why: Now, to preface this, I'm well aware it's not meant to be a literary masterpiece. I have fun engaging with media by critiquing it. I also don't think anyone is stupid or tasteless just for liking it. Spoilers!!

And please don't feel ashamed for whatever reasons you have. I enjoyed this book, even if not for the same reasons as others might have. There are concepts and moments in the story that I think could have really drawn me in had they been better executed.

Honestly what kept it interesting to me is just that I was looking for some world building and was curious what dragons had to with the plot and then got invested in Tairn and Andarna

– I did like the idea of a disabled protagonist being flung into a system that wasn’t designed to work for them. Especially in a fantasy setting. That isn’t something you see often, particularly in YA or more mainstream books.

- There were some moments where I genuinely empathized with Violet, especially when Amber was about to be executed. It was the first time I felt like Violet was truly powerless. She hadn’t thought through the consequences (which may ironically be what made me feel for her), and she couldn’t stop what was happening. (cont.)

(cont.) Regardless of whether Amber deserved execution for conspiring to commit murder, Violet did not want to be complicit in a system that needlessly and ruthlessly punishes people — and I fully understood her in that moment.

- Tairn was interesting and refreshing among the cast. I found myself enjoying chapters more whenever he was involved.
