Stop buying books, support your local library. Libraries buy books FOR YOU. Request books they don’t have and they will buy them for you to check out FOR FREE.
They’re cutting up books to train ai. THEYRE RUINING RARE BOOKS TO TRAIN FUCKING AI!

I like libraries and all, but I will never stop buying books lol. I love my little library and seeing all my books makes me happy if not financially responsible

Did this back in high school and it got my school a full collection of AOT, Dorohedoro, Berserk, Vagabond, and surprisingly Initial D. I was one of the only high schoolers active in the library. My media specialist and I revamped the entire library my senior year.

i have a library card at not one, not two, but three public libraries 😅 one of them technically isn’t mine, it’s my grandfather’s that he gets for free as part of a senior program at the rec center but he lets me use it.

Or do both? Nothing wrong with participating in both

I do both. I love having a filled bookshelf. And being able to share with friends. I hate recommending a book and not having it to let someone borrow myself. Guess I’m a library😅

It’s also good to support authors by buying their work if you enjoy it. People are reading less and less so it’s important to show support for them now more than ever. I believe you can do both so it’s not necessary to stop buying books. Buy the books from authors you love, borrow the ones you’re curious about from the library. Win/win.

Nothing wrong with owning physical media. Especially with the way things are nowadays

Same! I love having my own copies 🥳 I love annotating and writing and the signs of age on them! Esp being able to read them over and over again with no hassle if I want to lol

But don’t think this is me hating libraries💕! I’m a big fan of them and I go to my closest one like every weekend 💀

Same! I end up purchasing copies of most of them, but at least it saves me the money for the few I don’t enjoy as much. And then I can wait for the books I want to be on sale or to show up in a used store since they’re technically off my immediate tbr list

I get it, I usually thrift them or buy them on yard sales, I have at least 20 boxes full of books ALL SECONDHAND in good condition. I don’t care to buy from corporations trying to put libraries out and taking away free services that benefit the whole community.
