a lot of the issues i see with this is men being afraid of coming off as gay or effeminate. so i ask you this, if you see a women dressed more manly/butch would you think she's gay/masculine?
why don't men dress more slutty?

Unfortunately as a society we have a greater fear of coming off as gay or feminine bc those things are still associated with negative characteristics especially bc it’s associated with a lack of power while masculinity is idealized bc it’s seen as the power dominant position to hold. Also we have been working normalize women dressing masculine for the past century, we haven’t with men, primarily bc they have seen no reason to bc as stated, masculinity is where the power is at.

I know it’s it directed at me, but as a woman who dresses like a soft butch, yeah they assume I’m gay a lot. There’s always surprise when I’m not. Tbc it’s not necessarily rude or anything, but it is a reflection of the assumptions and stereotypes we see in society. I would assume a masc dressing women is more likely to be gay. Because they probably are

yes, i would think she’s gay. i would purposefully not approach someone like that romantically bc of that. goes both ways.

Also although I am a BIG proponent of dress how you want, not for the other gender. I see a LOT of men complaining about women not finding men attractive, but simultaneously their reaction to the idea of dressing in a way that may make them more sexy to women is this negative. I think all the guys who hold both attitudes need to do some introspection. Like it’s fine if the majority of men don’t want to dress in a way that is attractive but they need to stop being surprised when women are then in

i say that because you can look more masculine or more feminine depending on what you look like and by extension what clothes you’re wearing

Clothes don’t have sexuality, styles do
