but why is them mentioning it off the bat awkward for you? that’s the thing you’re ignoring. we know you’re not talking about them being gay, and instead are talking about them mentioning that they’re gay during their introduction, but why is that an issue for you?

and no, it is not the same as mentioning being straight; but regardless why would either matter? you could easily just have said that “okay cool” like you mentioned, and just moved on; instead of making it a much bigger deal than it actually is. that is why you are being criticized, as far as I can tell.
