What’s the best program to write your novel on? Google Docs, Word, or is there another option I don’t know of??

reedsy is good if you’re writing a longer work with multiple chapters

I personally write a lot on Wavemaker Cards 4.0, just because I like the aesthetic and it’s all in the browser, yet can still work without internet. Novlr is another that I’ve used, but that has a paid option, and only like 5 projects available without paying. On the other hand, Novlr has a pretty good discord server

I use Google docs. It works offline then updates once you get back online.

Scrivener is a popular choice but it does come with a one-time cost of about $25. I’ve used google docs for years and loved it. It made it easy to switch between devices, but recently a few writers (who write explicit material) have found some or all of their writing being deleted in the because of an AI checker that tries to get rid of spamming. So… pros and cons. You’d need to save stuff elsewhere.

And this is an off-the-wall suggestion but I use it consistently: Danger Notes. You set a timer and you have to keep writing for as long as you set, or your writing disappears. Very motivating for sprints

I’ve heard recently rumors that Google docs is also feeding things to AI. Idk how accurate that is but I’m gonna use Word for a while
