He woke up with his wallet and hiking bag on him, it had his ID in it, so he is going off of that and nothing else. He has memories of how the world works, he’s the only thing that’s been erased. So to everyone else, there’s a gap that he used to be in, to him he just has no memories of him as a person, which includes personal relationships. But I don’t want to be writing a newborn baby, so he knows how the world works

He also has some “gut feelings” that he uses. Like he feels drawn to this group of people. They make him feel safe… except for one person.
