In a perfect world, the vast majority of football fans understand that “rigged” games are nearly impossible in today’s day and age, and that a poor officiating job is a different thing than the refs being corrupt. Incompetence ≠ corruption

I always think it’s a little amusing people believe these elaborate rigging theories as if the refs can control the hundreds of passes and tackles in a match or somehow control who can score in a way that wouldn’t be immediately obvious to anyone watching. I find it even funnier in the NBA how people will say there’s like magnets in the rims and the balls controlling which shots go in as if that would be super subtle and easy to miss while watching the game
