Yes, the balloon dor is highly impacted by domestic and international trophies, and with it being a WC year, Szobo will never win even if he deserves it based on his Liverpool performances

But its men’s best player not “whoever wins the most trophies”, it just doesn’t make sense why you would account trophies into it when even the best player in the world couldn’t carry a bad team

I know and I completely agree with you, it should go to the best player regardless of if they won a quadruple and the World Cup or were an Estonian playing for Hamburg, but the fact is that the ballon dor is not an objective prize and the people who vote on it are heavily heavily swayed by trophies and international tournaments

Not even top 3 MFs. Rice, Pedri, Bruno and Vitinha are better. Szobo ain’t no slouch but best itw is overreaching

Pedri’s one of my favorite players and I have a huge bias being a Barcelona fan, but he’s had a slow season, Szobo has been world class balling since the start
