The reporting makes it sound like US soccer was already putting together a strong case and THEN trump made the call to infantino. If he doesn’t make that call and stays tf out of it no one can claim government interference like they are now, especially when the case had merit on its own. His victory lapping this morning makes it look really bad even if he truly did have no involvement
